The United Arab Emirates and the National Institutes of Health in the United States Collaborative Research Initiative (UAE-NIH-CRI)

Al Jalila Foundation, together with The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) and three United Arab Emirates (UAE) universities created the UAE-NIH Collaborative Research Initiative (UAE-NIH-CRI). The three partnering Universities are Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, Learning and Discovery arm of Dubai Health, Khalifa University, and UAE University. The initiative is also offering three fellows, one from each of the United Arab Emirates’ partner institutions, the opportunity to pursue a fully funded, one-year fellowship at a research institution in the United States. Through this opportunity, fellows will receive advanced training in allergy, immunology, and infectious diseases, fostering scientific exchange and strengthening collaborative expertise in the medical sciences field between the United Arab Emirates and the United States.

Each partner provided funding of $250,000 per year for three years, with a total collective investment of $3,750,000 for the 3-year program.

Through the program,12 research grants were funded for researchers from various universities and research institutes in the UAE for the duration of three years to drive studies focused on infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases.
